Trafalgar High School, with a student enrolment of 680 in 2007, is situated in a pleasant environment between the Strezelecki Ranges and Mount Baw Baw. Located on a large, attractive site adjacent to Trafalgar Primary School, this unique rural setting nurtures a strong identity based on wide community support, providing a stable, caring environment in which each individual attains a sense of identity and self worth. Many students travel to the school by bus or train from well beyond the local area. |

Our students are encouraged to exhibit positive attitudes to learning, high levels of independence, co-operation, tolerance of others, self-discipline, and pride in achievement. Courses of study for Years 7 - 10 offer a challenging environment across the eight Key Learning Areas (Arts, English, Health & Physical Education, Languages Other Than English, Technology, Mathematics, Studies of Society and Environment and Science), all of which are equitably represented in a balanced curriculum grid. |
|
In addition, an Accelerated Learning Program, established in 1997, enables selected students to cover an enriched Years 7 - 10 curriculum, potentially in only three years. Trafalgar High School has a very experienced, stable staff who are concerned with the needs of individual students. They are actively encouraged and supported by the school to continually upgrade their knowledge and teaching methods. The school ensures that the principles of merit and equity operate throughout. Parental support is highly valued, providing input in a wide range of areas. Regular and open communication between parents and students is acknowledged by the school community as an outstanding characteristic of our effectiveness as a school, where participants enjoy a sense of self-worth and pride in achieving individual excellence. |
